Dr. Zvi Loewy, a biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry executive, has extensive experience in the development and commercialization of services and products in high growth life science markets. Dr. Loewy has pioneered the integration of biotechnology  and engineering over the course of the last eighteen years. He has in depth experience in systems biology and systems integration as applied to the health sciences. Dr. Loewy has been a pioneering inventor and business strategist for several pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and diagnostic companies. His responsibilities have included R&D, product development, business development, operations and marketing.

As a corporate executive Dr. Loewy has directed numerous very successful multi-disciplinary teams. At Roche, Dr. Loewy was responsible for the design and development of a molecular biology-based automated analyzer, the Cobas Amplicor™. The Cobas Amplicor™ has proven to be one of the most successful automated systems commercialized by Roche. The Cobas Amplicor™ was jointly developed by Roche U.S. and Roche Switzerland. At Sarnoff Corporation, Zvi led the team that designed and developed microfluidic-based genomic systems. The integrated systems were subsequently out-licensed to Orchid Biosciences a company that was started by Zvi and colleagues at Sarnoff.

Dr. Loewy’s business development experience has encompassed in-licensing, out-licensing, acquisitions, joint ventures and the creation of start up companies. Zvi has extensive experience in the creation of life science start up companies including genomics, proteomics, pharmaceutical manufacturing, bio-pharmaceutical discovery and medical devices.

Dr. Loewy is on the faculty of Yeshiva University, New York Medical College and Drexel University.

Zvi received his B.S. from Yeshiva University, M.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Ph.D. from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Zvi has over 25 issued patents and numerous publications.
