JCT
Student Success Story
Boaz Arnon - Owner and Founder of VKB
Developer and Manufucturer of
the
Virtual Keyboard
Is
this the end of the computer keyboard as we know it?
Perhaps. It is already possible for users of many types of
computers to type on a virtual keyboard. The Virtual
Keyboard is not only an invention with world wide
implications, but it is also the success story of a JCT
alumnus, Boaz Arnon, who established VKB, the company
that developed the Virtual Keyboard.
The new
invention is smaller than a pack of cigarettes. The wonder
box includes an electronic chip, a sensor and an optical
identifying component. When turned on, it projects the image
of a full sized, red keyboard on any available flat surface.
It can be used any place the user chooses - on an office
desktop, a restaurant table, or even a suitcase.
Boaz Arnon
completed his studies at JCT's Machon Lev in 1987in
the framework of the atuda Atuda Akademit (army deferment
for academic studies) and began his IDF (Israel Defence
Force) service as a paratrooper. As his army career
progressed he served as an officer in a number of
engineering positions in the army's infantry units and was
part of many research projects involving shooting at
targets, sharp shooting, night vision, lasers and more.
In 2000 he
established VKB, a company currently employing 12
workers (including 5 additional JCT graduates). Boaz
wanted to come up with a solution for sending information
for various types of instruments.
The
virtual keyboard is currently sold to a number of companies
around the world both as an accessory and as an integral
component of existing instruments. Among VKB's
clients are some of the biggest names in the electronics
arena.
