Faculty Research

The faculty is grouped  in five active research groups:

Medical Physics, Bio-Informatics and Bio-technology

Electro-Optics, Optical Communication and Telecommunication

Electronics and computer Engineering

Problem Modelization and Applied Mathematics
   Technological Management Research

A small sampling of our ongoing research

Medical Physics, Bio-Informatics and Bio-technology
Prof. M. Nitzan
develops noninvasive methods for the evaluation of the arterial function, based on PPG-optical absorption measurement of the cardiac induced pulses in skin blood volume. The current research includes development of methods for automatic measurement of blood pressure, the assessment of arterial stiffness (arteriosclerosis) and detection of diabetic autonomic neuropathy.
Dr Idit Weissman is a physical chemist working with Bar Ilan University to establish computerized models for the interaction of small molecules with proteins.

Electro-optics, Optical Communication and telecommunication
Prof. N. Eisenberg
and Dr. Y. Ariely are researching
non-conventional optics, silicon photocells, and micro-optics (design and fabrication), as well as photo-voltaic solar energy and silicon solar cells (fabrication and system design).
Prof. S. Bloch is working on formal methods for hardware telecommunication testing, in collaboration with researchers at the Université de Reims (France)
.

Electronics and Computer Engineering
Prof. A Solomons
is researching analog measurements, physiological, electro-physiological measurements and sound reproduction/simulation.
Dr. Y. Sonnenblick is developing aids for deaf and blind people, including Hebrew speech synthesis, text-to-speech and voice-output communication aids.

Problem Modelization and Applied Mathematics

Prof. Y. Friedman
conducts research on modeling in physics. geometrical optics and fuzzy logic as a tool for system dynamics description and prediction. He is also working on optimization of production processes and in device design, performance analysis of a company and revival times.
Dr. Th. Dana-Picard, M. A. Akivis and V. V. Goldberg are working on abstract algebra and geometry

Technological management research

Prof. Y. Zeisel
is researching managerial accounting, activity based costing, transfer pricing, measuring customer profitability, research into behavior finance and decision theory in investment management.
Prof. M. Posner works in operations research, including: inventory systems with lost sales and variable lead times, inventory systems with fixed shelf life and constant lead times.
