Evening at the Theater

American Friends of the Jerusalem College of Technology presented an Evening at the Theatre on Thursday, February 19th.  Friends and supporters attended the St. Bart's Players production of The Diary of Anne Frank and met with the cast and Director for a post-performance discussion of the play  -- with dessert and coffee. St. Bart's Players is housed in the St. Bart's Cafe, Park Avenue at 50th Street, New York City.

Mel Weinberg, Esq. addresses the 30 people who attended the event

The play's director, Stephen Press, created the role of Peter in the 1955 original production.  He met and has remained in contact with the Frank family.  He is possibly the last living expert on the actual experiences evoked in the play.  Mr. Press has directed The Diary of Anne Frank throughout the world.  He had a repertoire of anecdotes about the Frank family and productions of the play to share.  We also had the opportunity to meet the cast and ask questions about the production.

In conjunction with this production, there is an Anne Frank Exhibition in the gallery next to the theatre.  Friends of JCT also hosted a pre-performance reception from in this gallery for our supporters.  Melvin Weinberg, Esq., Secretary/Treasurer of AFJCT, made some brief comments about the relevance of the play to Israel and supporters of JCT.
