The bulk of Mr. Gilbert’s career has been in complex commercial litigation. Mr. Gilbert started his practice with Shea & Gould in 1978. He joined Nixon Hargrave in 1994, and was a litigation partner with the firm between August 1994 and February 1998. His clients have included Helmsley Enterprises, Inc., Times Square Center Associates, Park Tower Realty, and Cultor Food Sciences. He has tried numerous cases to judgment, including Bass v. Tax Commission, resulting in a $33 million judgment, and Alexander’s v. Board of Assessors, resulting in a $10 million judgment. Other significant litigated cases have included matters of defamation (Ariel Sharon v. Time Magazine), estates and trusts (representation of a fiduciary in the Estate of Doris Duke), and the valuation of minority interests in real estate joint ventures (Friedman and Gold v. Beway).

Admissions
Mr. Gilbert is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia, all federal district courts in New York, the Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third, and Sixth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court.
